Brothers is Ken & Harry Watters' first CD for Summit Records, and the one that got the ball rolling for us. Recorded in 1999 at Acoustic Recording (Brooklyn, NY), and mixed by Johnny Sandlin at Duck Tape Music, this eleven-song CD (on which four tunes are original) features some of New York's finest musicians: Kenny Werner (piano), Scott Colley (acoustic bass), Scott Neumann (drums), plus Ken Watters (trumpet/flugelhorn) & Harry Watters (trombone). The Brothers CD introduced the mainstream jazz market to Ken & Harry Watters, receiving rave reviews from the worldwide jazz media.
By the way, the cover photo was taken in 1967 (Ken was 3 years old & Harry was 5) on Sommerset Road / Weatherly Mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. We were wearing costumes that our mother had made for us - we had no idea at the time that this shot would be used on a jazz CD 32 years later... Rock maybe (we grew up on The Beatles, thanks to our dad), but jazz?
"Brothers Ken and Harry Watters are a class act. Superb musicianship, sparkling treatments of Twentieth Century classics and exceptional original compositions mark this outing as an early top 10 contender." - Glenn Astarita / All About Jazz
